Governor Walz has appointed all of the commissioners that sit on the Public Utilities Commission. In the six years he has been in office, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has approved year over year increase in rates at an average pace of 8% each year, that is a total of a 48% increase in your electric, gas, water, over the past six years. Many residents, have resorted to using space heaters, which has resulted in home fires, deaths, and an already stretched first responders units being deployed to contain the fires. At this rate, if Governor Walz continues to appoint more commissioners that will move his agenda of ever increasing rates, we will no longer be able to afford to heat our homes. Records show that on average, Minnesota has about 36 fatalities related to home fires.
