Minnesota used to be known for it's excellence in education. Under governor Walz, our testing scores for students has plummeted Minnesota students scoring at the bottom half of the country, https://mndaily.com/285541/campus-administration/minnesota-student-literacy-scores-hit-decade-low/. Due to the most extensive school closures in the country during COVID-19, Minnesota students are lagging behind the rest of the country. Minnesota has just over 2,000 public schools with the daunting task of trying to catch-up to the rest of the country when it comes to proficiency in reading, and math. To make matters worse, many of Minnesota's 250 charter schools are receiving millions of dollars of taxpayer money with little or no students in attendance at the schools. While there a many charter schools in the state that have a thriving community supporting them, there are other charter schools with no public address and/or no children in attendance. This area of expenditure needs some immediate oversight, as well as an audit to ensure that Minnesota taxpayers are not funding another "Funding Our Future" fraud case.
